To Peel or Not To Peel

I have many patients who come to me because they want to look better. In fact, ALL the patients who come to see me want to look better. The difference is in what they are willing to do to get the change they want.

Some will opt for surgery, as a one-shot renovation so that they can go to sleep and wake up renewed. Others will opt for injectable fillers and other wrinkle reducers such as Botox to make a more subtle change with minimal downtime. Those that fear needles are looking for products, lasers, treatments and peels.

Chemical peels have been around for a very long time, over 100 years. Some are weak and harmless, and do very little. Others are incredibly powerful and need a very skilled practitioner to insure that no damage is done.

At Yager Esthetics, we have the ySpa. Our peels are all specially formulated and chosen for darker skin tones. We treat the face as well as the body and some scars. With the Vitalize and Rejuvenize systems, dark spots, acne, wrinkles, fine lines and skin texture problems can be treated . We even have some success with certain stretchmarks.

I encourage you to call for a complimentary consult with our estheticians so that you may see what your options are. I am sure you will find them” a-peeling”.

African American Women at Yager Esthetics

As our renown grows as the Latin plastic surgery and beauty experts, Yager Esthetics has become extremely busy. One interesting side effect has been the influx of African American women. I have been seeing that demographic jump significantly in my office schedule. But why?

One such patient was in to see me the other day, and she told me that she knew that I was focused on the Hispanic patients, and that was why she came. She felt the curves and body types she saw on our website were the ones she was looking for. That the Latin beauty ideal was popular right now, and she wanted to go to a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who was familiar with it.

Previous patients had told me that they had been referred by a Hispanic friend or coworker, and those women were pleased with the results. They also admired their friends’ new curves. They visited our website at www.dryager.com, and loved the message and the photos.

While our office was established in 1997 for the purpose of serving the Latin community, we of course welcome anyone to visit. Our mission to be in the community, for the community will never change. We are flattered that others see the beauty in the Latin curves.

Don’t Let the Weather Stop You

As I write this, I am in my office on Saturday, February 9, 2013. A big snowstorm overnight has put the city in a panic. It never occurred to me not to come in. I am a doctor, a Plastic Surgeon, and I work virtually every Saturday. I have consults, preops, post op patients and return visits who count on me. I would have walked here if need be.

Most of my staff at Yager Esthetics also made it in. They are dedicated, and of good character. We are on a mission to serve the Hispanic community, and love what we do. The sidewalk has been shoveled and salted, and the first patient has arrived.

The phone has been ringing nonstop. Some patients just want to be sure we are open, others are rescheduling. We have a pool going as to the number of people we will see. Our Patient Coordinators are already busy with surgical scheduling.

It made me think, why would you not come? As long as the trains and buses are running, and the roads are clear, what else would you do today? Although it is cold and white outside, it is getting close to Spring. Let nothing stand in the way of your bikini summer. Make the effort and reap the rewards.

The Vein Light

One of the newer services offered at Yager Esthetics is the treatment of spider veins and small varicose veins. Sclerotherapy, or the injection of the veins with a solution to collapse and remove them, and laser treatments have been going very well. I have 2 nurses who are very experienced and enjoy the treatments immensely. The patient satisfaction rate has been fantastic.

Sometimes the veins are harder to see in patients with darker skin tones. Because of this, some veins are not treated until they become larger. The Vein Light has eliminated this problem from my practice. In a darkened room, the device can transilluminate the skin and all veins are clearly seen. It makes injection more accurate and complete.

In addition, we can avoid the mistakes of many vein injection centers by visualizing deeper veins. If your superficial varicose veins and spider veins are caused by deeper reticular vein issues, they will keep coming back. We screen for venous insufficiency so that we are sure the treatments here have the best chances of success.

Please call and ask for a complimentary vein evaluation so that we can treat your problems. It is not only cosmetic, as discomfort and future health problems may be avoided with early diagnosis and treatment.
