Spider & Varicose Veins

One of the areas of interest of my patients at Yager Esthetics has been spider veins and varicose veins. I have always done cosmetic surgery of the face , breast, and body, but have not offered any solutions for these blue lines that embarrass women (and men). As a leading provider of cosmetic plastic surgery and esthetic services in the Hispanic community, I decided to research the safest and most effective treatments.

For true varicose veins, the very thick and bulgy ones that stick out from the skin, I still refer patients to a vascular surgeon for treatment. Venous disease like this needs a full workup of underlying circulation, and the surgeries are best performed by someone with vascular surgical training. Open surgeries, as well as endovenous laser options are available.

For the true spider veins, and thin varicose veins of 3mm diameter or less, we offer two options. Some are amenable to laser therapy. Given the unique challenges of Hispanic skin, a test spot is done to insure that darkening of the skin is less likely. A special type of laser that is safer for darker skin tones is always used.
The tried and true method of sclerotherapy, or injections into the veins to dry them up, is also used. We have the latest product, Asclera, which is a concentrated solution that is very effective in treating these annoying venous problems.

If veins are a problem, we invite you to visit the office for a consultation so that my nurses and I can evaluate your particular problem, and review the options with you. I promise your visit will not be in “vein”.

Four Years of Blogging

I was just reviewing some old topics for my blog, and noticed that I started in 2010! Four years of weekly blogs means around 200 topics covered. Plastic Surgery is a multifaceted field, and there is still much fertile ground to cover.

What has changed at Yager Esthetics in four years? We have our beautiful new 6000 sf facility which provides a wonderful space for the Hispanic community to experience the latest in cosmetic surgery and nonsurgical treatments.
We have the Y Gallery, a dedicated permanent gallery space within Yager Esthetics for Hispanic Artists to display and sell their work for free. It also allows us to carry out our Pequenos Picassos program to bring art to the local schools.

We have our Vein Center, where your spider veins can be treated with the safest products specific for latin skin tones. Our dedicated Nurse Injectors have tremendous experience insuring a safe outcome.

We have the latest treatment for loose skin and minor fat deposits that is not surgical- Exilis Elite. In only 3-6 treatments done weekly, virtually all areas of the body can be improved. It was the Best Skin Tightening Device of the Year in 2013.
We have Silk Peel, which has been great not only in skin care and anti aging, but in the treatment of stretchmarks and dark scarring with our new protocols.

The one thing that hasn’t changed, and never will, is our 100% dedication to the Hispanic community, which we have maintained since opening in 1997, 17 years ago. The more things change, the more they remain the same.

Spring Cleaning

Although it may not feel like it outside, spring is upon us. The renewal of the grass, flowers, and trees makes me think of personal renewal and rebirth. It is also a very busy time at Yager Esthetics. With the combination of income tax refunds, spring break and vacations, and the warmer weather signifying more revealing clothing, patients turn their attention to body issues, as well as personal grooming.

The spring procedures are always laser hair removal, liposuction, breast implants, and tummy tucks. As we get ready for bikini time, all of these areas come to the forefront. Trying to keep up with the demand, but never doing more than I can safely, I have increased the number of surgeries weekly, and have added an extra day of consults here and there to prevent too much waiting time. Sixteen years ago, I could never have imagined this problem!

I would urge you all to remember, as always, that sunscreen should be applied every day, as the harmful rays can penetrate clouds. We have some great renewal treatments for the skin of the face and body that I would also recommend. The Silkpeel can refresh your skin surface, and treat mild discolorations and acne. It can also help with the skin of the body. The Revitalize Peel is also a great spring cleaner, and an appointment with our Estheticians is advised.

A new treatment for 2013 is our safe Asclera injections for spider veins and small varicose veins. We have 2 highly trained specialists to let you show those legs this season. The laser vein treatments are great as well.

Spring has sprung, and we hope you let us show you how we can get you ready for the best one yet.

The Vein Light

One of the newer services offered at Yager Esthetics is the treatment of spider veins and small varicose veins. Sclerotherapy, or the injection of the veins with a solution to collapse and remove them, and laser treatments have been going very well. I have 2 nurses who are very experienced and enjoy the treatments immensely. The patient satisfaction rate has been fantastic.

Sometimes the veins are harder to see in patients with darker skin tones. Because of this, some veins are not treated until they become larger. The Vein Light has eliminated this problem from my practice. In a darkened room, the device can transilluminate the skin and all veins are clearly seen. It makes injection more accurate and complete.

In addition, we can avoid the mistakes of many vein injection centers by visualizing deeper veins. If your superficial varicose veins and spider veins are caused by deeper reticular vein issues, they will keep coming back. We screen for venous insufficiency so that we are sure the treatments here have the best chances of success.

Please call and ask for a complimentary vein evaluation so that we can treat your problems. It is not only cosmetic, as discomfort and future health problems may be avoided with early diagnosis and treatment.
