Brow Forehead Lift

Brow LiftOften, a patient will come to me complaining that their upper eyelids are saggy, and want them corrected. This occurs in many younger people (in their thirties) as well. In many instances, it is not the eyelid skin that is the problem, but a descent of the forehead and eyebrows, especially over the outer half of the eyes. Patients will often show me what they want by putting one finger over each brow and lifting. That is often exactly what they need.

Browlift surgery is an excellent way to refresh your appearance in a subtle and natural manner. As advances have been made in gallbladder and knee surgery using tiny incisions and special cameras called arthroscopes or endoscopes, so has browlifting been revolutionized. Formerly, a long cut was made from ear to ear across the top of the head, and a strip of scalp was removed to lift the brow. Now, in Endoscopic Browlifts, 4 tiny incisions are made within the hair, and the brow is lifted with special instruments and cameras. Absolutely no hair is removed. Recently, an advanced system, the Endotine, has been employed by our office so that no staples or screws often needed in this procedure are utilized. An absorbable fixation device is placed beneath the scalp and dissolves over time for the longest lasting result possible.

Endoscopic Browlifts are procedures that take 45 minutes to perform. For optimum safety and comfort, an Anesthesiologist provides total monitoring and IV sedation to insure your experience is painless, pleasant, and safe. This procedure is often safely combined with eyelid surgery and other facial surgery. I can also weaken the muscles that cause the vertical lines to form between your eyebrows if you desire it.

After your procedure, you are observed in recovery by our nursing staff for a minimum of one hour. You will have an Ace wrap around the forehead. The skin is closed with dissolvable sutures that disappear on their own. It is generally a pain free procedure. Swelling and bruising sometimes occurs, and often extends to the upper and lower eyelids . A week off from work is recommended. Hair may be washed 48 hours after the procedure with baby shampoo. The change is immediately apparent.

The key to success and satisfaction is clear communication about expectations. I pride myself in spending the necessary time with each patient to demonstrate what is possible, and to show them examples of my work that are truly representative. My patients are virtually all pleased with the natural rejuvenation achieved.
