Skin Care
Before

I am, by training, a Plastic Surgeon, but because I do exclusively cosmetic surgery, I am often asked about skin care. It is clear that even the most artful plastic surgery of the face can be marred by the presence of acne, dark spots ( often seen after pregnancy), sun freckles, and other signs of aging. While I am not a dermatologist, I have a large experience in treating these types of skin problems. If I feel you have a specific complaint that is not in my area of expertise, I will happily refer you to someone who is an expert in that particular problem. The most important thing to me is that you are cared for by the best qualified physician, even if it is not me.

We will start off with a full consultation, including a review of your concerns, what you have tried in the past, and a close examination of your skin with computer imaging. We can then discuss your treatment options, and even see before and after results of other people with your same issues. It is often nice to know that you are not the only one with a particular problem.

Skin Care
After

No one skincare product is perfect for everyone, as all skin is different, and all lifestyles allow a different time period to achieve certain goals. Some treatments require no downtime and one minute a day, while others can make your skin red and dry for several weeks. This is why communication is so important.

Obagi Nu-Derm ProductsI often recommend a treatment plan using Obagi Nu-Derm products for people with dark spots, sun freckles, and other sun damage. These products are prescription medications, and are not soothing to the skin. The way in which you will use them depends on your skin problems, and lifestyle. To achieve a fast, dramatic improvement, the products can be used in a very aggressive way, but you will have noticeable redness, and dry skin that will flake, especially around the mouth, for the first 2 weeks. After this, your skin becomes accustomed to the products, and it is much easier to tolerate. The system can be used in a much gentler, milder way, but the results take longer to see (months instead of weeks). You do get to the same end result eventually. I can also adjust the level of force used during treatment to fit your lifestyle, and give you tips on use around special events, waxing, and electrolysis. The level of improvement and patient satisfaction are very close to 100%. I have several family members in treatment as well.

For mild acne, oily and dry skin, and simple maintenance, I use a variety of products and medications. Kinerase is a very effective and excellent choice for skin balance, and as well as basic skin care. It is refreshing to the skin, and can really help reduce the visible signs of aging. I have other very effective skin care lines as well which I am happy to educate you on. Kinerase is particularly simple to use, and can easily fit into anyone's daily routine. There are many different products, and they are combined specifically for you.

Skin care is a great and simple way to improve your appearance without surgery. Chemical PeelIt can do things even a facelift can not, and the results can be dynamic. At your consultation for whatever procedure, please ask me about it. If skin care is not the answer, we have other treatments and injections, such as Botox, collagen, Radiesse, chemical peels (such as the Obagi Blue Peel), microdermabrasion, and more to offer you the very latest techniques available.
